Things are not really looking good for her running.
She seems to have slid into the Hasay Zone.
I think the issue is that Cain has been getting a lot of advice from SFH - she needs to quit that and her times will improve.
Was there - Cain basically just ran on the back of the train for ~800m ish until things started to split up. Slowly fell back from there. Pretty anticlimactic
This can't be fun for her anymore
she has gone downhill so fast she needs to get ride of salad bar and maybe things will get better.i think shes just another has been
Maybe this post should be about the top American in the race. Cory McGee by two seconds. 4:11.?. Sometimes I think LR is all about athletes with sponsorships. Whether they perform well or not they get the attention.
So, who is Cory McGee?
Who paid for the trip?

I hear she ran a 4:11 in Glasgow.
Seriously? You don't know who Cory McGee is? You're not much of a track fan then. Previous world champs team at 1500m. Total ncaa stud from Florida. Runs for new balance, and super hot.
Very good. What was Cory's PR coming into this race?

Cory Mcgee hasn't been running very fast lately either, which is of course disappointing. When she's on her game she's among the best in the US. Hasn't been that impressive in a while. All this said though, she's still very young and has room for improvement. In the same way that Cain does. Cain could realistically throw out crappy performances for more than a few more years now because she's so popular. Great chance for the slow development she obviously needs.

You people are funny. It is February and she just chopped 6 seconds from her previous 4:19 performance. If she can't break 4:11 in June then you can say something, until then you should just keep quiet and enjoy the early season races.

I think you meant to say that Cory McGee runs 4:11.59 in a 4:01 race in Glasgow?! Oh right, Mary lives under the microscope, pressure, high expectations that get top posts and headlines, in ways few others do. And we wonder why, at her age and years into such pressures, she struggles. Hmmm. The races and running struggles are probably less for her than the attention struggles we are all creating for her. Back off a little? Naw, why give someone her age a chance to grow into her path in running? Why not help burn her out mentally? Cory should have had higher expectations than Mary given recent races, no? But her name and fame are not Mary Cain's.
My bet is Mary will be back, working her way to it. If I am wrong, I hope I have created no undo pressure for her. If only everyone would be more balanced in their approach to such young superstars. Poor Drew Hunter will be next. It's hard to meet overinflated expectations, and running better only inflates those more.
I would hope the LR team would be more kind, initiating a post like this, but guess it's just too tempting to make folly of someone trying to come back. Good for rating, but not for the overall health of T and F if you ask me. It is Let's Run, after all, and not let's help running overall. :-)
The event has moved on. 3:50 is the new 4:00
Why didn't she run Millrose?
I got a serious bricky watching Cain run today. Can't explain it but it happened.
Exactly. Makes zero sense flying to Europe when there are good races in Boston and NYC. very strange indeed.
Who?
