What is the equivalent of breaking 14 in the 5k in the 3k Steeplechase?
What is the equivalent of breaking 14 in the 5k in the 3k Steeplechase?
I'd say sub 9.
However, there are charts for this, you could just use one of them...
I know a guy with PRs of 14:01 for 5k and 8:35 for SC, so right around there, I think
9:01.24
I was a 9 flat steepler with PRs at 8:24 for 3k and 14:40 for 5k.
A 14:00 5000 runner should be around 8:40.
8:45 although the aforementioned 8:40 is fair.

I heard of a guy who could run 8:30 with a 13:54 5k. Between those two guys, I would say 8:33.34.
I know a couple 4:20 milers who can run 2:15 in the marathon. Doesn't make those times equivalent .
the definitive answer.... wrote:

If you have good to great technique as a steepler then I would say 8:40-45 is about 14:00 5k shape
8:35 ish

I know a guy who ran 8:21 with a 13:53 5k. ;-)
