All this talk about Rupp never having run a marathon is true, but ridiculous. Sure, if he was forced to go out in 1:01 with the Kenyans it would be cause for duress, but they'll probably go out in 1:06. He'll be singing show tunes at this ridiculous pace. I also assume he's probably prepped for a marathon in training with some long sustained efforts. People act like he's a jogger lining up with no clue how to run this race. He's could crush this field but I'm guessing he'll just hang back and do what it takes to qualify.

Rupp is undisputably a man among boys in this field, however: It's a marathon in the heat. Funny things can happen over that distance in hot weather, even at a relatively easy pace. He may not even finish. Personally, I'd say he's 60% chance of winning, 20% of dropping out, 80% of making the team. We'll know in a little bit here
