More success for Colorado teams? What are the chances a few years from now we'd see D1, D2, and a Juco national title all from the same state?

Call it what you want, if I'm a fast highschooler who isn't going to be eligible year one I'm going juco, getting eligible, and then moving onto a four year school. The 5 minute milers will hate. Let them hate.

I was driving through Trinidad a few weeks ago on the way to southern New Mexico. I wondered why there were no JUCos in CO without track. Glad they are starting a program.

Seriously though, if you are a decent runner who is looking to go that route go for a school with track as well. JUCo can be hit and miss as far as coaching and support, but so are all other levels. There are also some decent runners, nothing like the depth at the DI level, but decent nonetheless, especially considering the participant's are underclassmen. If you are in the 4:20 to 4:30 range with hope of getting DI eligible talk to lots of coaches with both sports. JUCo is just now getting into there recruiting season as those who won't be qualified are finally coming to that realization. Kansas has some good programs, as does Arizona.

Just like any other level, any XC only program is going to have a harder time getting serious athletes.

Not everyone can qualify academically for a school like Adams State right out of HS. This provides an opportunity for motivated scholar-athletes to get up to speed.

Trinidad, Co is the sex change capital of the world. This will probably be your best selling point to kids who can't get into Adams State out of high school, Ms. Martin.

Or maybe we should reform the public Elementary/Junior High/Senior high school education system...

Not anymore, that doctor left town. And the alamosa campus is being discussed anyway.

Could be harder to get athletes. But could be better for some athletes. Could have 4 years of track to use at another school once they are done with Juco. Obviously shes not a proven coach yet, but I would let my kids gamble on a new coach who has won national titles, been part of one of the winningest programs in the country, and has a father who is as good of a coach as Damon Martin is.

Going to be a good program. Been to the ASU distance camp for many years and that girl knows her stuff!
