I thought it would be cool to start a documented non-track celebrity mile list.
I will start this off: Michael Jordan ran a 5:22 mile back in 1986.

damn man, get a freakin life!! seriously i mean come on, are you that bored or something?
i heard dana carvey won his state's 3200 as a freshman and again as a sr. dont know the times.
Well that made MY day...my PB was 5:17 in my late 30's.
Never raced the mile before that and only ran 2-3 of them.
Thanks!
Alan Iverson 4:30
I dont mean to correct but I believe that Mr. Iverson ran 417 in practice earlier this season, and that it was Mr. Hamilton (i believe from the Pistons) who ran 430.

Practice?....Practice!....We're talking 'bout practice...
Sorry, but since Iverson doesn't show up for practice, it's a little tough to believe.

on a cinder basketball court and before we knew about periodization. Imagine what he could .....................
Hamilton never ran 4:30. He only claimed he could run "under five minutes. Probably like 4:30."
In truth he could probably run about 5-5:20.

Has anyone ever seen the movie "Groundhog Day?"
Wayne McLaren ran an 4:03 in the late 70s. If he chose a different line of work I am sure that he would have run sub 4.

Not likely because he is from California. Either went to Carlmont or Bellarmine.

Carlmont, I believe. I think he was around 4:27 for the 1600 in high school and maybe 9:35ish at 3200m. Quite impressive. Didn't Luke Wilson run in HS? And I think Robin Williams was a 1:58 800m guy at Redwood HS in Larkspur/Marin.

Yes. He was a 1:54/49-point guy at a Texas prep school.
Peter Garrett from Midnight Oil ran 3:55, I believe. Far from 3:45 in the grand scheme of things, but not bad for anyone 6' 6".
Also, some guy who is now a congressman from one of the Plains states ran like 3:55 for the full mile when he was in high school and supposedly got it down to 3:51 before he bowed out. I forget his name but he was the real deal.

Classic--nice work.
There was this celebrity who ran 3:43 once, only the catch is, he was famous for running.
