Kidder got the win as 5 guys broke 1:48.
.A big run for Penn State frosh Isiah Harris as he won heat 2 in 1:48.12. His pb in HS was 1:49.63 according to dyestat.

He was probably a low 1:48 guy last year in HS. Never had any comp, negative split every race, and split 46.8 on a 4*400 as a Jr. In HS. This was the first race he went out faster than he closed and had no comp in 2nd half.
He went 1:17.74 for 600 last weekend winning.
News flash: Penn State runs great middle distance times in January
Same as it ever was
I agree with Mr. Obvious' observation , I hope Kidder can Hold on until season's end.
2:18 100M
3:55 relay split
1:47.0x next day 800M is some running.

It took me less than 60 seconds to check tfrrs and find what Kidder did last year. Dude ran 1:45 at Payton Jordan and in the prelim at NCAAs, then got 2nd in the outdoor final. If that's not holding on "until season's end" I don't know what is.
Harris is defintely a runner to watch this year. He probably could of gone 1:47 in the faster section. Ranked 12th in the country as of right now. He could go 1:46 indoors which would set him up well for outdoors if he continues to progress.

Please do not let the facts get in the way of the LetsRun trolls vomiting their venom from their mommies basement.
Mr. Oblivious can only wish he could sniff Kidder's jockstrap.

I think he's referring to gondaks coaching as a whole. They run great at home on their super fast track but are nowhere to be found when it counts. Kidder is the exception.
Actually in this case I only meant that he is running sooo fast now, I hope he has somewhere to go from here.
2:18 3:55 winning split and 1:47.01 next day are serious marks for January , even late.

Same as it ever was...
Actually you're both right. PSU mid-d seems to always run very fast indoors, in particular early indoors, and then fade at least somewhat outdoors, sometimes more than somewhat. But clearly last year Kidder was the exception to that.
Anyone know why? Is it their training? Do they put more emphasis on indoor season than most programs? Does it have anything to do with their indoor track?
To me the question is who are all these individuals who fade or don't run as fast outdoors?
A quick glance at PSUs NCAA level mid-distance runners over the years shows they have all run well outdoors.
Ryan Foster's 800 PR is from the NCAA outdoor meet where he was a finalist and his 1500 PR is from the Harry Jerome meet in June
Cas Loxsom's 800 PR is from the NCAA outdoor meet where he made the finals twice and was runner-up. He also was a World Junior Silver medalist at 800 in July.
Robby Creese's 1500 PR is from Payton Jordan and he has made the finals at the NCAA outdoor meet.
Brannon Kidder's 800 and 1500 PR's are from Payton Jordan in May and he has been 2nd and 3rd in the 800 at NCAA Outdoors and made the final in the 1500 his other year at NCAA Outdoors.
Sam Borchers 800 PR is from the USA Meet in June where he was a finalist.
The other thing to look at is you have to run fast indoors to make the NCAA indoor meet - you don't have to run as fast outdoors where it is more head to head. Everyone's times indoors are going up these days because there is no lock to make the NCAA indoor meet - you just have to be top 16. So you better run dam fast to make sure you are in!

7th in the NCAAs. No other Penn State runners in the finals.
