I have a 5K coming up, but I don't want it to interfere with my marathon training and I normally do a long run at that time. I was thinking maybe I'd just run 10 miles later that day, but when I'm already there and dressed to run, plus there are people waiting with snacks and beverages, perhaps it makes more sense to do 2 or 3 more laps of the 5K. It's a loop course and a pretty big 5K. I know it will be set up for at least an hour and a half.
I figure I'll run the 5K as if it were just a 5K, then jog for a while until my heart rate goes down and do the other laps at a moderate pace.
Is this terrible in some way that hasn't occurred to me? Would I be taking advantage? Anyone done this before?
