Why do milers wear jewelry?
Conventional wisdom is 2.0 seconds per pound per mile unneeded weight. Clearly a bracelet is unneeded weight.
Here's an example:
Let's say for example you run 3:26.69 for the 1500 metres, but wore a rubber bracelet.
Let's say this yellow rubber bracelet weighed around 2.0 oz. This is 2.0/16.0 pounds or 1/8 of a pound.
Over 1500m (close enough to a mile), you would lose .25 seconds.
So instead of 3:26.69, one could have run 3:26.44, much closer to the world record.
So why do athletes above the 200m wear jewelry?
