Since I finished my first semester of college, I'm upping my mileage because I have some more time. My coach suggested it.
Normal week:
Before:
monday- off
tuesday- 45min morning + 5 x 1500m 2'rest in dirt (something from medium to long)
wednesday- 60min followed by weight work (time issues)
thursday- something like 14 x 300 in 50 seconds with 1'rest
friday- 60min
saturday- 12 x 500m with 1'30'' rest or something similar
sunday- 80min or 60min + 45min double (alternating weeks)
Now:
monday- off
tuesday- 60min + 5 x 1500m (or similar repeats in dirt)
wednesday- 80min + gym (not in a row because i have more time to rest)
thursday- 60min + 10 x 400m or 14 x 300m ...
friday- 80min
saturday- workout + 60min
sunday- either 60min + 60min or 90 min (again alternating)
So I went from 60min to 80min, added some more doubles and the day I was already doubling I upped from 45min to 60min. Also long run went from 80 to 90min.
PR's: 33:38 10km
16:12 5km
09:17 3km
04:12 1500m
6:26 to 6:30 has become my standard pace now, normally splitting just under 41 at the 10k mark and feeling nice. Except at the old 45 minute run where it would be more like a semi-tempo and maybe 6flat.
I'm hoping to run 15:30 at 5k or so by May, and 32:30 by April at 10km.
