Unless he ran by himself for the entire distance he did not solo. So, did he lead the entire way?
61:20?? Dam* that's a quick time for a race like that.
Wow. Dude is good a running.

This race is usually won in the 70-72 minute range. He was probably well clear of the field after the first 200 meters.
very
super
nice
cool
That's really solid. Was it completely solo or did one of his teammates pace him through the first few miles?
Completely solo. Rupp was alone within the first couple steps of the gun going off. It was him and the Lead Runner cop motorcycle the whole time.

I can tell you he was more than 3 min. ahead at the 4-mile mark.
Seems to me that he could run faster than an hour.
He just goes out and runs this in a nothing race...shows how much better he is than the current US marathoners, at least at the half.
My guess is that running a half at the end of 2011 worked in the 2012 preparations so they are just doing it again and he has no intentions of making his marathon debut at the trials. But if I'm wrong I would be shocked if he didn't win the Trials marathon.
I like how he did the "punch the ticket" sign when he crossed the finish line. I'm thinking he runs the trials, jogs the first half in 1:06 and then blasts a 1:03 negative-split to win.
4:40 pace completely alone in a fun run for Galen Rupp today.4:33 pace is the american 1/2 marathon record4:27 is the world record pace (58:23)4:36.9 is his PB 1/2 marathon pace (1:00:30)4:18.8 is his 10,000m AR pace4:10 pace is his 5k PB (12:58.9)Dathan Ritzenhein ran 60:00 flat for the 1/2. He never beats Rupp at any distance but has a faster 5k pr, and obviously a faster marathon pb.I think it's fair to assume Galen Rupp can break 60 minutes in the 1/2 marathon if he trained specifically trained for it. But the world record could probably go down too if elites really trained for it too....

Ritz beat Rupp in the 10,000 at the world championships the same year he set the 5k AR.

The IAAF doesn't count aided courses as PBs, so today was his official PB.

Ritz has beaten Rupp twice over 10000 m plus in two 5000 m races where Rupp DNF'd.
Here's a picture of him crossing the finish line:
J/k
But who wants to see him anyway? lol
Awesome.
$80k-65-55 for the trials 1st three.
How many appearance dollars for a spring marathon for Mr. Rupp?
USADA was absent.
Missing.
Where?

So then it wasn't solo after all. He had a motorcycle pacer.
