USA Triathlon is trying to find its next Olympic star with its Collegiate Recruitment Program (CRP).
USA Triathlon has had great success in the past with the program as current World #1 and Rio gold medal favorite Gwen Jorgensen came through the CRP and was a runner for the University of Wisconsin. She had never done a triathlon until 2010, made our Olympic team in 2012, and now she's the Olympic favorite.
USA Triathlon reached out to LetsRun.com about the best way to promote the CRP and in addition to advertising I suggested why not have a thread on the forums, where you all could ask questions about the program and hear how it works. I've said I wanted to put an LRCer in the Olympics. I always assumed it would be in running, but who knows if triathlon may be first!
Barb Lindquist, a former World #1 for the US in triathlon and ex-collegiate swimmer at Stanford, is the USA Triathlon Collegiate Recruitment Program Manager. She is going to be answering your questions about the USA CRP (Triathlon Recruitment Program) for the next week on this thread.
You can find details of the program here:
Who knows maybe 5 years from now, one of you could be world #1, heading into Tokyo as the favorite. If you are interested in triathlon or know of someone who might be, be sure to tell them of this thread.
