I usually buy my shoes online.
The store wants to do a gait analysis. I know what type of shoes work for me. I know what shoes don't.
I just want shoes, no analysis. I don't want to be told what shoes to wear.
Even with $50 off, I can get a better deal for the shoes I want online.
Throw it out?

Get $50 worth of gear or other stuff you normally wouldn't buy. Sell it online.

It couldn't be more obvious that OP hasn't actually been to a brick and mortar store in a decade. No running store will refuse to sell you a shoe that they didn't recommend, and no running store employee is that pushy about wanting to help you pick out a shoe unless it's clearly someone who is in off the street picking on color.
Also, where are you getting your shoes online that much cheaper? I never see prices like either online or brick and mortar unless it's a previous year's model, and then the brick and mortars usually stack up just fine against the online prices.

Wrong. The stores will have a few old models on their clearance rack for 20% off retail in 3 sizes. Online will have many models for 50% off in whatever size you need. It's not close.
There are reasons to go to a brick and mortar store, but they aren't magic shoe and gait diviners and their prices almost never anywhere close to what you can get online.
Yeah, just get some shorts to wear over your tights.

Yes! The coupon is only for shoes at regular price. Not applicable for the 20% off shoes. That means MSRP.
Let's say I want Hoka shoes. Retail brick and mortar is $150. I can get them online clearance for $80 just by waiting a while. So by using the coupon, I lose $20.
If the coupon was for anything other than shoes at MSRP, I'd use it.

Pretty much had the same thing happen. I couldn't even give it away. The fact that a $50 coupon was worthless was mind boggling. I had to throw it away before I drove myself crazy.
the running store is not going to force you to buy anything. in face they just want to help you if needed. It's true most experienced runners don't need the help of an associate at a running store. However they aren't there to push or talk you into anything.
Also, supporting your local running store is important if you care about races, events, running groups, and other things running in your community. The Running Warehouse isn't going to help your city be more fun
I won a $50 gift certificate at a running store that was 2 hours away. The race was about an hour from me. I decided to wait until later in the summer when I was going to be in that area for another race. Didn't realize it expired in 90 days. I just framed it and turned it into a "trophy".

The less potential for direct socializing with humans, the better.
