Following him on Strava, he just started more intense training a few weeks ago. He's been putting up some great times given how early he is in his training cycle. Here's his hard workouts from the last couple weeks:
Nov 20: 30 minute tempo averaging 4:48
Nov 22: 18.8 mile long run
Nov 24: 3-2-1-3-2-1-3-2-1-3 fartlek
Nov 28: 40 minute tempo averaging 4:41
Nov 29: 17.2 mile long run
Dec 1: 1-2-3-4-5-5-4-3-2-1 Fartlek
Dec 3: 10 miles in 52:02
Keeping in mind that these are his first and only hard workouts of this training cycle (according to Strava), what potential do you thing he has in the marathon? He labeled his fast 30 and 40 minute tempos as rolling and controlled and his Nov 29 long run as "recovery." I think he could easily be a sub 2:10 guy if/when he transfers up distances.
