Are Nike FlyKnit Racers actually good racing shoes?

The more that I ran in mine the better they felt. The upper actually seemed to somewhat conform to my foot. The midsole is pretty firm. I've worn mine in races up to a half marathon, but wouldn't wear them in anything longer. I've used them a few times for workouts.

On the same note I think that the Streak LT is a better bang for your buck.

Any opinion on the Streak LT 2 vs the Streak 5?

It's been years since I've owned racing flats (use 'em for workouts and races), but I'm training a lot more and it's time to get a pair.

I'm a very neutral and efficient footstriker, I ran a marathon in the old Zoom Vapors and they worked great.

haven't used the LTs but I have the streak 5s. to me, they're more of a long distance shoe, mile or longer repeats, tempos, and 5k+ races. they have a really nice smooth feel to them but not the aggressive feel i like on the track.

I have zoom streak LT2 and ZOom Streak 5

LT 2 are lighter and quicker with a lower drop. I wouldn't regard the zoom streak 5 as a track flat and the can be a bit slippery

I must add that the adidas takumi Sen are my absolute faves on the road and zoom streak LT 2 on the track

lt2 is closer to what you are in right now (type a6). less shoe but great feeling and awesome value. perfect for the workouts you are doing.

flyknit racer will provide slightly more protection while still feeling responsive and firm. i use it more for tempo style workouts or on days im feeling beat up heading to the track. its an great shoes for the 5k and up, where as ill use the lt2 for anything below 10k (i realize there is overlap there).

The Streak LT's are the lightest and lowest, closest feel to a track spike. For training and racing, I really like the Lunaracer 3's. Very light, but some cushion and much less than the Flyknits.

As others have mentioned, the Streak LT is a shorter distance racing flat. Think of it as a "spike for the roads". The only thing that would be more spike-like would be the Lunarspider R6.

The Streak 5 is a marathon flat. Much better cushioning and more supportive. I use my Streak 5s for long runs and tempos and faster paced workouts.
