I am looking for a marathon racer. I am tempted to buy the NB 1500v1 but I do not normally wear support shoes. I cannot tell by descriptions if it is truly a support shoe or if it just has more support than a normal lightweight flat.
Anyone here run in them? Training-wise, I normally wear a Vomero or an Elite, so not much of a support guy.

I personally like both the 1400 and the 1600 but like the 1600 more since it's lighter. 1600 also has less support.
Disclaimer: I've never done a marathon.
I usually wear mild support shoes (DS trainer, DS racer, Brooks ST5) and I found the NB 1500V1 support to be pretty obtrusive in the arch, I could really feel it on my first 10km run in them. I ended up selling them as it was just too much for me.
I've heard it gets less noticeable with time but I would say compared to the DS racer, the 1500 has a much more obtrusive medial post. Try it on though and see how it suits you.

The 1400 is my go-to, for tempos and racing 10k to the marathon. I'll also use the 890 for recovery or long runs sometimes, feeling like it might save some wear on the calves and Achilles.
I train with a guy who knows and runs in the NB line, who put it that he wouldn't race a marathon in the 1400, but the 1500 he would consider. A bit more support but not quite the (relative) cushion of the 890. Sounds great.
For me, though, the feel of the medial post is a bit annoying, even after many miles to get used to it. Strangely, I also seem to get a hot spot under the lacing, with some extensor tendonitis before I reconfigured them Lydiard-style. (This is an issue I've never had in my life with any shoe.)
Personally, I'll stay with the 1400, Brooks T#, Adizero Boston/Adios/Tempo. Interested to hear what others have found.
I would be reluctant to run in anything with arch support. Try the Saucony A6 or the Mizuno Ekiden if you want a lower heel to toe offset and solid cushion without the stability.
