I watched the NYC marathon this weekend and I have a question. Why were there so many slow (4+ hour marathoners) wearing Nike Oregon Project Shirts? Were they on sale or something?
Further I saw a LOT of slower runner wearing full tracksmith clothing.
Why? The fastest don't wear that kind of stuff, so why the slower runners?
I wore a NOP shirt for my long run this weekend. It was comfortable and pretty cool for a Halloween run. It's been about a year since I bought the shirt and it was not on sale. I remember thinking I had gotten ripped off b/c when I bought it they charged my CC immediately but I never got a confirmation email and it didn't come for like 3 weeks. I reached out to their customer support and they never got back to me. I did eventually get the shirt, though. And I love it.
I don't own any tracksmith stuff, but I might get those long running pants. The HEPS themed stuff just seems cheesy. You either ran in the IVY League or you didn't. If you did, you'd never wear that imitation stuff. If you didn't, you have no business pretending to be an IVY League runner. Right? The normal non-HEPS stuff seems pretty nice though.

Dude who cares? In fact I think it's good. If we had more professional running groups and "teams" with singlets or shorts or anything for that matter it's a good thing. Like football or basketball people buy jerseys etc of their favorite teams and players. Why can't we dream of someday being the same? Grow the sport and elites. Even if some of the "slower" runners don't know what they're wearing it's good for the sport.

Great points! I'd love to see shoe companies (or whoever sponsors runners) start to have more distinct uniforms that pertain to something other than just the shoe company. Whether that be teams, countries, regions, or whatever, just something to make runners stand out of the seas of boring singlets we see every year.

They probably rewarded themselves for finishing a 2 mile tempo at 9 min pace in preparation for a color run. Sorry, but I hate hobby joggers with every ounce of my being.
