This is the result of PC gone wild...good young men can't even be comfortable in their own skin without being accused of hazing!!!
Sorry about the inability to post a link. I had the same problems last night. Trying to stop the Korean spammers. Here is the link
http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/13899790/rider-university-cross-country-team-suspended-finding-team-members-preparing-run-naked-practiceTo answer your question, yes it's considered hazing. Colleges consider everything to be hazing. Even scavenger hunts at Cornell were off limits without special permission.
I mean this is a pretty innocent example but I remember when i talked to an ex-georgetown runner about the stuff that was going on at there school, he kept telling me, "No one is made to do anything. It's all voluntary." I kept telling him, "A freshman will feel obligated to do it to fit in."
My favorite part about princeton was we had a 6-pack, 5 mile race. Of course that got cancelled.
PS. I changed the title of the thread. It initially was titled:
Rider XC Team Suspended for Hazing/Streaking
It is not everyday a D3 XC team makes the headlines on ESPN. Apparently Rider's Administration is cracking down on the XC team naked run. Pretty ridiculous. Is it really hazing, if the whole team freely participates?
I would post a link, but Letsrun keeps bouncing the post as Spam.

Can you email me what the spam error says? Thanks
wejo@letsrun.comWe implemented a new feature that a new poster (and reset the coutner to 0) can't start a new thread that ends with a link. That might have caught you up in it. Just post a few words after the link.
Standard weekend stuff when I was in a D1 SEC school.
oh COME ON!! This isn't hazing at all. at my school we do this after conference and if you're not into it, just don't show up. if you come to the track, you're expected to do it, but it's not a surprise or anything like that. waaaay to sensitive.
Here is the original article ESPNis referencing: http://www.nj.com/mercer/index.ssf/2015/10/rider_mens_x-country_team_planned_naked_running_wa.html#incart_river_home
Indeed, naked running threads have been here before. Time honored tradition.
Of course, I was in college in the 70s... a hedonistic time.
I can tell you, a goodly part of the UMass middle distance squad blasted a very fast 4-500 meters across the Southwest Dorm yard one night in '77 or so. The best part was when a slightly overweight cop gave chase, poor guy was yelling his head off but didn't have a chance.
Here's some advice: Have beers after the run, not before, in case of pursuit attempts.
UMass is the embodiment of hedonism
Riders spokesperson makes the university sound pretty ridiculous. Hazing by definition is ritualistic abuse or humiliation usually for initiation purposes but she states that no one was coerced to participate. This makes no sense. Who submits for abuse or humiliation without coercion? Either she doesn't understand what coercion means or she doesn't understand what hazing means.
but did they look relaxed?
