So like a schmuck I went out and boughta pair of NB 900's after reading about them on this board.
Running on a variety of 'modern' shoe with motion control, stability, and extra cushioning for several years now and thought I'd give these low riders a try.
Knees and feet 'urt' after an easy 6 miler, but my legs afterwards felt like they have been liberated, unshackled from the seemingly bulky and heavy clogs of the past. I soon relaized that the clogs are designed to compensate for an inefficient stride by making my feet 'lazy'.
My epiphany occurred when I realizd that it is up to me to improve my running efficiency - specifically - to broaden my footstrike. In clogs, I was involuntarily using my Big Toe as the primary source of energy transfer. Now, with some lightweight trainers, my footstrike is more even, and extends from forefoot and along all five toes. No doubt this is more efficient, and enables more energy transfer into each stride. It simply can't be done in high heeled and excessively cushioned trainers.
