Matt Llano running 2:12 in Berlin reminded me of this.
It seems like the vast majority of all white male marathoners (professionals of course) end up sitting right at 2:12 for the marathon as their PR. Something about 2:12 has made it the magic number, either this is just a coincidence or maybe a mental barrier kind of thing.
Only a few under this criteria have ever cracked 2:10 in recent memory, Ritz, Hall, Arne Gabius - Jerome Dayton came quite close back in the day of course - .
Anybody else notice this phenomenon?
