I jogged a lap around the track to warmup, rested for a bit, and then sprinted. In my defense, I totally died about halfway into it and had to slow way down. I think if I started slower I could get a much better time. What's my realistic potential in the 5k?
We're gonna need more info on your morning bowel movement in order to accurately predict your 5K time. Please respond.
If you could run that 18 second 100 for 422 times in a row without slowing down you could finish in the top 10 of most major marathons.
You probably should've kept moving.. even if you felt like you slowed down, the second 100 in a 200 is ALWAYS faster, I'd bet sub 16 for that 100, and 15:30 for the 5K
If you died 1/2 way into a 100
And you ran 18 seconds
If you die in a 100 you'll die in a 5k
If you are really serious about this running thing, do some serious speedwork, then come back and work on endurance

Yeah but my best ever 200 was 33 seconds, so maybe that went like 17/16???Still, I had pretty good speed for slow poke. Never broke 19 minutes.
This 18 seconds 100 (or 34 second 200) will tell you close to nothing useful.
