great first race, pretty incredible actually and came 2nd to his teammate mcgorty and was not that far off. scary stuff

he got thrashed by mcgorty, what race did you watch?
mcgorty ran 23:07, fisher ran 23:33
McGorty crushed Fisher at the Stanford Invite today
23:33 is still good for Fisher though
Cheserek- 23:33
McGorty- 23:37
Saarel- 23:40
These are all debut's from top FR coming into college (Granted (no pun intended) this was from the Indiana State course, Stanford has a fast course)
That 23:07 by McGorty shows me he deserves to be in the top 10
If the Rosas, McGorty, and Fisher all pack run and are in the top 15 at Nat's, they could win
5th man: Wharton? Keelan? Faye? Silva?
Colorado has depth, but Standord has depth too!
Different strategies for McGorty and Fisher.
Fisher started out much slower, just moved his way up the field and eased into 2nd at the end.
Other than McGorty, Milt held out all the studs, men & women.
However, injury rumors continue to swirl, this season around the men's team.
If certain individuals don't line up on/before Pac-12s, rumors will be confirmed.
Anyone have the full results?

He ran in the top 15 for 3km then stayed back as a few people broke away. At 5km he was with the leaders in the peloton then slowly reeled guys in. With 150 to go he blew by second place for a very impressive first collegiate race in 23 mid.
He ran unattached so time will tell if he red shirts or runs as part of the team.
Dang, O'Keefe 16:32 to win by a minute!

McGorty ran very well. He looked strong and left the pack at 3km with the Chico State runner that ended up third. The way McGorty ran bodes well for him later in the year and he very well should be top 10 material. Young Mr Fisher ran his first 8km race and he was impressive given his background. I can't imagine him doing anywhere near the volume of training as many of the other guys so all the more impressive

Yea- He "could've" won the race, but didn't want to.

This isn't cycling. It's a pack...
7.x kilometers?

Why redshirt? Chances are injuries could creep up in the future. If you are in 23:30 shape at 90 % you are ready. RUN FISHER RUN

Tough crowd... Pack it is. Just thought I would throw in a different word for visualization.
Visualize this... Stanford, pack running with seven guys, all packed together in the lead pack. They be packin it to NCAA's bro and packing home some hardware.
So does anyone have any skinny on if they are gonna send Grant this year, or redshirt or what? I might of missed the posts on intell. reports. Coach I know was at Stanford and said Grant looked good. He always looks good...reminds me of B. Saarel, always looks amazing.

Sounds familiar... Didn't we hear something like this before? ... that's right, last year they were suppose to bring home the hardware! What happened, bro? So you're sure they gonna do it this year? A lot more trees in Oregon than in NorCal. You need to fear those Oregon trees.
I am unsure of why they would hold him out? I think this is it for the Rosas. or do they have any eligibility left . I know each had missed time and seasons.
This could be Stanford's best team in a while and still get crushed by CU.

Yes but... Crushed is a bit over zealous.
Colorado is the clear favorite and on paper has no equal. However, one just never knows... Lots can happen to anyone and any team in the lead up to November.
Stanford has a lot of guys - top guys that haven't raced yet. Milt is a smart coach who will be assessing each runner. If Fisher were a high milage guy coming into his freshman year it might be an easier decision. Do you use up a year if eligibility on Fisher or save that year for down the road? My guess is Fisher might be as high as 4th guy on their team or as low as 6th.
