I've been having pain in my quad for about three weeks now. I'm a junior in high school over half way through cross country season. My freshman year of cross country and track went really well and during cross country I was an alternate on the varsity team. My sophomore year, I accomplished my goal of actually being on varsity and running at districts and regionals. So, sophomore year of xc went well, but then track that year, I increased my mileage by too much too quick and got a tibial stress fracture in my shin. I was out from mid-May to beginning of July. I started slowly training in July and was back to full training by mid-August. It's mid September now and I am feeling the quad pain. It started after out first meet, not directly after the first meet, but the next day is when it started. I ran through it, but then my next race was horrible(we race every Saturday) because I could feel the quad pain. I took two days off and it felt a little better, but it came back and its been two weeks since then and its still hurting. I can't seem to pick an exact spot that it hurts, it almost seems to jump around. It hurts when I pick up my leg after putting weight on it. I developed a limp. It aches sometimes, but not all the time. Its so weird I don't even know how to explain it. Our fourth meet was this weekend and I didn't run because after doing a spring workout earlier this week, it hurt so bad and my limp was worse than ever so my coach made me stop. I haven't run for 3 or 4 days now and it still hurts, but not nearly as much, but if I started again would the pain come back? Also, my limp has gone away a little since I haven't ran for the past few days. My trainer is confused because it doesn't hurt in a specific spot and it doesn't hurt when I stretch it any way, so that wouldn't mean the bone, but it hurts after putting weight on it, so that would mean the bone. That's what my coach and trainer are saying. My coach wants me to see a doctor, so I am, but I really don't want to because of my last stress fracture. I did a hop test and it hurt bad, but it hurts less on the hop test now that I've taken a few days off. I'm so confused if its a quad strain or a stress fracture in my femur. Please please help!!
