Background-
Two years ago I started running during my 8th grade track season. Before that season I had never gone under 8 min for the mile and by the end of the season my best time was under 6:40
All 8th grade PR's
-400m 1:16
-800m 2:56
-1600m 6:37
I took off a year of running then my freshman year of high school I decided to go out for track but didn't join until the outdoor season started. I did sprints with some of my friends and just wanted to have fun but I'm a competitive person so I really wanted to try and by the end of the season it was too late to join distance. The longest distance I ran was the 400. I dropped 10 seconds in that from the previous year
Freshman track PR
-400m high 1:06 split
This past year, my sophomore year I ran cc for the first time. My first meet was 21:17 and by the end of the season my PR was 19:32(3 miles) I trained for cc in the summer and trained through the winter for track that spring. I dropped around 10 seconds every time I ran the 1600m that year (about 5).
Sophomore PR's
-400m 1:06 low(split)
-800m 2:23.82
-1600m 5:28
-3 mile 19:32 (6:31 avg pace)
This will be my junior year of high school. I just had my first cc meet and was only 1 second off of my PR but had a ton of energy left so I know I will PR huge at the next meet. I am a hs girl and I really want to drop a lot of time in track. My biggest goal is to go sub 5 in the 1600m but I realize I will have to drop almost 30 seconds still. I have a very muscular body type and I'm 5'3 125-130lbs. I eat really healthy with the occasional junk food I sleep 8-10 hrs a night cross trained in the summer and have been focusing on doing drills and abs everyday as well as lifting with my team twice a week. I am not naturally talented as far as baseline talent goes because until I started running I was never any good at it but I have an advantage to others that I improve rapidly because I adapt well to training. I really want to go sub 5 by my senior year in track. Is that a reasonable goal considering my past seasons and times? All advice welcomed. Thanks for your time!
