Why are you singling out Koch?
At the very least, turn your sights on Flojo (100m & 200m) and 80s Roger Daltrey lookalike Kratochvilova.
Flojo was not part of a state-sponsored doping program and was not shown to be doping, whereas Koch and Kratochvilova and other Eastern Europeans were and have been proven to be on doping programs, yet they are protected by powerful European interests in the IOC/IAAF.
She completed 400 meters in a sanctioned event faster than any other women in history. That generally is the standard for a women's WR.
She hasn't gone through the same strenuous process to have her performances voided as Marion Jones and Lance Armstrong.
Common knowledge isn't a high enough bar for conviction.
True, it's not fair to single out Koch - but it's worth considering voiding all East German records between 1971 and 1990, the period during which doping was system in athletics in that country.
Because IAAF is not going to erase 70% of the 80's World Records. So, for the womens there are many "untouchable" WR's (probably because anabolic steroids were more effective for the womens), not only that record from Marita Koch.
Think about Valerie Adams Vili, dominating the SP field for years, but she's miles away from the WR.
Written proof of drug taking by Martita Koch and Barbel Wockel and others was in the Stasi files. They've been opened. There's no doubt.

It is disgusting. As bad as Flo Jo still being in the records books, or Bekele, El G, Komen...so many filthy cheats. Although in this day and age only third worlders or POCs in certain countries are given a pass.
It’s pointless to parse out one or two WR holders as being potentially dirty when an easy case can be made that every single one is. Of course, none of the sport’s governing agencies have any interest in bringing up more negative publicity, so nobody is going back to look at East German medical records or FloJo blood samples.

You just do not have that kind of documented record of doping for many of the other world record holders. Now, if they tested positive for doping later, I would support all their records being stricken from the books, including Randy Barnes. Now, of course, other dopers might then take those records. And you'd have to do some actual research to see whether there was good reason to invalidate those records. But start with erasing Marita Koch, Jarmila Kratochvilova.
