Looking forward to seeing what Soratos is able to put together. Has he done any races since USA's?
You couldn't get in the seeded heat unless you were a 3:56 miler! The second fastest heat has a few guys trying to break 4:00 including former high school sensation Mikey Brannigan. Of course, both heats have a rabbit. If you live within 30-40 miles of Huntington on Long Island, come to St. Anthony's HS on Wednesday night. Races start at 7:00 with the Elite Men and Women starting around 8:00. It should be awesome!
…and bring your spikes, I'll be rabbiting the 6:00 pace group. Seriously, this is gonna be awesome. Love these BBTM type of events.
Deer Letsrun--Last year was my first summer as a professional, and I noticed there was a bit of a gap in the domestic racing circuit leading into 5th Avenue. The idea in creating this meet was basically to give athletes a chance to hop on the track one more time for a fast mile before the season ended. Since everyone was heading to NY anyway, and Long Island has an incredible running community, I thought this was a great opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Nick Willis and put on a race of my own.
It's the first year of the event, but the fields really came together and I think it's going to be something special. If you are in the area, it'd be awesome if you came out to St Anthony's High School to support the event. The elites will start at 8:30pm, and you'll be able to stand in the outside lanes and cheer us on. A huge motivation for this event is to reach the younger runners in a grassroots environment. If you have kids, or coach a high school team, I'd really appreciate it if they got a chance to see the race. And if anyone is interested in running, sign up is on LongIslandMile.com. If you aren't local, the race will be streamed live for free on RunnerSpace.com as well.
Hopefully we get a good crowd out and the race runs fast! In addition to some good rabbits, we are having a race leader bonus at 1309m in hopes that the kicks start early. Figure it's a fun variable to try out.

Hey Merber, Since you are 'hosting' the event, are these guys gonna let you win it?? Or are you going to be a good host & let the 'company'? Weather looks good for Wednesday night, should be a scene…..

I should have brought in a way weaker field...I immediately regret this whole thing
I am way less invested in my own race than the whole event. Hopefully I can pull something good out, as training has been going well and everyone I know will be there...
It's a bit far for a midweek drive for me to go to but it's really cool that you're doing this and I hope it goes great.
Sounds good Merber, should be a solid race! Might stop by.

Runnerspace will have a feed, so that's good
Unfortunately, I won't be there in the flesh, but definitely in spirit.
A great event, hope it succeeds.

"Might stop by"??? You should change your moniker to Too Cool. What else do you got going that's going to be better than this?

It's not too late to bring in wejo. I'm pretty aure he can still run close to 5 (for a mile, not just 1600m).

professional pacers get paid big money to pace why would weeeg even think to pace for free. There are big bucks to be made elsewhere.
wish this was on a weekend-- would have thought about coming out to LI from the city to watch

No, he meant "Deer". Very popular and well known inside joke on LetsRun. You can be excused for not knowing the joke, but not for being a grammar dick.
Your welcome.

^^ What this guy said. Get with the program dude, maybe we'll have to put together a power point presentation for you so that you understand the inside jokes on Letsrun.
Good luck with the event and your own race on Wednesday. Any chance of doing something like this at Baker Field?
