I want to make my own DIY running shoe. Anyone done this before?

Yes.
Bowerman did. You need to start with your wifes Waffle Iron.
Seems like I've read about folk that use old tires for soles and twine for laces of sorts.
I would like to hear more about that. Tired of paying big bucks for crappy shoes.
You just need very thin tough leather. Kangaroo is best with Goat the next. Buy of make some wooden lasts and follow an on-line tutorial on how to form leather around the last.
The use of Barge cement completely eliminates the need to make any seams. You can glue everything.
A one piece seamless leather upper will be the greatest fit you've ever found.
I think there are CAD programs for shoe design. Maybe we can get a forum license and create a community-shoe?
The outdoor freaks do this occasionally, get a product mgr involved and come up with sth unique.
Try putting the spike on the INSIDE
3D printer?
Material Sciences have to come up with completely new fabrics before 3D-printer will become more than a hoax.
Right now they are on the decline, rightfully.
Chipping processes are the way to go.
i made a pair of huraches, don't see any point in running in anything else. there is no impacts when running because you can feel the floor fast.
Make a mold and melt some old shoes into it.
Get a rock and chisel, works well

How did you make them?

He made racing flats, but did he make a training shoe?
I did, but not for running specifically.
I'm interested in a collaboration.
Anyone in?
I'm doing a lot of DIY running related stuff.
Last year I wrote an app for running.
This year I'm doing a wearable.
I would be interested in this as well. I'm not interested in a barefoot type shoe though. I'd like to make a shoe similar in function to the Brooks PureConnect

Only the real Barge cement that they only still sell in the cans. The tubes are a less toxic reformulation that is no good.
