Eighth? And so far from the front?
Top 5 all ran pretty well, but he should've been able to close in 39.5 and been right there with Willis if not ahead. Not his day. He ran a little more aggressively than usual, but his finish shouldn't have suffered that much.
So much talk about going for gold he must have been feeling good.
Not much sauce while this investigation's going on.
A big http://www.letsrun.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/yawn.png goes out to little Centro.

His finish suffered because he's overmatched. He got beat by a bunch of guys with better PBs than he has. If you look at his finish in Monaco this year, he set a PB but finished seventh or eighth or something like that and that's where he belongs. The 1500m is stacked now unlike when he won his medals and it's only going to get worse for him. Souleiman will be back for Rio and Manangoi will be even better next year. For all tha talk of how great his tactics are, the reality is that it doesn't matter which position he's in at the bell, as a 3:30 runner he's not going to be able to outkick a bunch of guys who have run 3:28 or faster.
It's really easy. AlSal should just make him do more push ups then he will also become a world beater - just like Mo.
There is way too much logic in this post for it to be included on the LRC messge boards.

Thought he was THE MAN? Where's that annoying guy now that kept posting that this week?
Thanks but you'd have to be a fool to think otherwise. Saying someone medaled before in a field that was nowhere near as good as this field doesn't really mean that they should be able to medal against a quality field like this one. Kiprop, Kiplagat, MAKHLOUFI, Willis, Iguider and Manganoi all have faster PBs than Centro and Leo and Wote have each run 3:30. I just don't see how you can look at the lineup of this race and think that Centro was a favorite to get a medal or even had much of a chance at all. That dumb chest thumping he was doing about what is PR was before when he medaled and all of this crap was just stupid. He more than likely will not medal again. Maybe he'll run just under 3:30 like Willis but this event is so stacked right now it's just crazy and it's not going to get any easier.
I wanted to add that Kiprop, Kiplagat, Leo, Willis, Iguider, Wote and Makhloufi have all medaled (either indoor or outdoor) as well. So I don't really need to hear about all of Centro's championship experience either.

Great freaking post.
Centro didn't have a crowded field running blocker for him like he did '13 when he hit the straight.
Track is such a minor sport in the US (and it really hasn't been all that big in Europe for over 25 years btw) that we don't have many top talent people even trying the sport. We have guys who are good like Centro, Robbie, Leo, but no top notch middle-distance people, never mind Rupp (yeah, all the jealousy based accusations aside) being the only truly talented contender in the distances.
Guys from the past like Scott, Gray, Wohlhuter and more were more talented than the current group. The US should have legit contenders in literally every event.
I think Centro already won in his mind so forgot to finish the race
kiprop with livestrong bracelet , where do you even get one ....goodwill store
can he read , is he retarded ?

Lots of leftover goods end up in Africa. You know, like those Kentucky 2015 National Champs t-shirts. Probably Kiprop picked up the bracelet at a market and thought it was cool because it was from the US.
Except that Centro was running harder, earlier than some of these guys and nearly in lane 2. I agree that he is well matched, and even over matched by some of these guys, but he CAN and has beaten some of them. The level is so close for most of them that it comes down to the day and each persons strategy, reactions in the race, and a bit of luck.
Saying he has no chance to medal is moronic UNLESS it's a race going at 3:26 pace.

I think you mean 3:30.
To some degree you're right. He was probably overmatched by the top 5. Where Willis was, though? I don't think so. A lot of these 3:28/29 guys have more off days than you give them credit for. If they run well, like they all did today you are correct.
This nutriding has to stop. "A lot of these 3:28/3:29 guys have more days off than you give them credit for"??? Centro PBd this year and he also had some awful showings. Does he have any days off? He was overmatched by the top 5. Kiprop 3:26, Kiplagat 3:27, Iguider 3:28, Makhloufi 3:28 and Willis and Manangoi 3:29. You tell me how often he's going to be able to beat at least three of those guys (who are all faster than him) to get a medal? Never mind the fact that Souleiman wasn't even in the final. He's the one who needs the stars to align for a shot at a medal a lot more than the guys in front of him do. This is reality not fandom speaking.
