Should have been the anchor. That was nasty.
-
Might be third fastest split ever:
Women
Jarmila Kratochvílová (CZE) ran a 47.6 Split in the 1982 Athens European Championship final, a 47.75 split in the 1983 Helsinki World Championship final, and a 47.9 split in the 1983 Europa Cup in London.
Marita Koch (GDR) ran a 47.70 split in Erfurt 1984, a 47.9 split in the 1982 European Championship final, and a 47.9 split the 1985 Canberra World Cup.
Olga Nazarova and Olga Bryzgina (USSR) both ran a 47.80 split in the 1988 Seoul Olympic final (current world record)
Allyson Felix (USA) ran a 48.01 split in the 2007 Osaka World Championships final, and a 48.20 split in the 2012 London Olympic final.
Florence Griffith-Joyner (USA) ran a 48.08 split in the 1988 Seoul Olympic final. -
Can someon etell me how the US didn't win gold?
My goodness. We have 3 of the fastest 4 women in the world this year. THey should have let felix anchor.
1 49.26 Allyson Felix
2 49.67 Shaunae Miller BAH
3 49.83 Francena McCorory USA
4 49.95 Sanya Richards-Ross USA -
The US team is cursed. Possibly payback from USATF selling its soul to Nike
-
Typo in the title. I had her in 47.73 on my iphone. I left my watch at home. There needs to be an official split somewhere as she was on leg #3.
-
3 other people have confirmed the split. One had 47.6 one 47.7 and 47.8.
-
That is a Baylor strategy. Put the fastest athlete in the 3rd leg. But i'm not sure if it works if you haven't experimented athletes in the 4th leg. (like you had in Baylor, with Wariner in 3rd and Williamson in 4th)
-
So, they were over 1.8 seconds down already? When she got the stick?
Wow that is hard to believe from a U.S. 4 x 4 team of any kind!! -
The Jamaicans first 2 legs were 49.96 and 49.75. Sanya killed us.
Allyson Felix is incredible to look at and to watch run! -

Because the USA did not run their best lineup. USATF strikes again with poor lineup selection.
Phyllis Francis ran 50.32, 50.50 and 50.51 in the first round, semi and final respectively.
Natasha Hastings ran 51.25 and 51.33 in the first round and semi and didn't make the final.
Who would you pick for the relay?
USA would have a gold medal if they had run Francis. It's like we wanted to give Jamaica a handicap or something. -
Damn! What were they thinking?
-
AF is a national treasure - she is amazing, time after time after time - amazing talent...and humility! She is a true American Hero.
-
I would like to know this myself. I went for a 5 mile run thinking that USA has both relays in the bag. Came back and Jamaica has won. WTF!!! Are you kidding me. The entire USATF needs to be sent packing after a whipping in a public square!
-
SRR is lucky if she can break 51 now. Too bad.

Sadly, some members of the US team didn't want to call finishing 2nd a disappointment. If you finish 2nd with 3 of the fastest 4 women in the world, it's a disappointment. Sorry.

Obviously Felix was so fast on the third leg that the 4th leg hadn't fully finished her warm-up yet... -
