On the women's side? No. They could drop the stick and still win. Well i guess if the drop the stick, it goes into the in field and they get DQd for that (But can you run over the curb, go get it and come back out where you went in and not get DQd?) then it's theoretically possible.

But we have the world #1 and world #2 sitting fresh for this race plus Allyson Felix. FElix may be the world champ but she also might only be the third best AMerican 400 runner.

Felix won US Nationals, the World championships in the fastest time in the world--a time that only Felix and Richards-Ross among Americans have ever run--but two people who couldn't even make the US team are better?
