Why are there asterisks next to some of the times, and why are two schools listed twice? I'm guessing they have trials and finals but that doesn't make much sense.

YORK RULES!!! LONG LIVE THE LONG GREEN LINE!!!
of note, prior to the 7:32 the national record was a TIE from the 1960's.
non sequitur, I recall Harry Groves being proud of the fact that the 7:11 team was either entirely from Pennsylvania or nearby.
Is there any all time men's collegiate top 20 or 30 list that anyone can post? Very interested in seeing that! And here's my vote ... put the 4x800m. in the NCAA outdoor meet!
Kenyas A team is faster, you missed Bungei. He ran 1min42.34 in Rieti 2002
>In fact Elliot was a pretty cheesed off after the race as he felt he had let the side down.
I seem to recall he had given up his season, went on holiday and had not trained for 3 weeks but was asked to run and did so. Yes I also recall the B team were ahead after his leg.
Anyone have the all time indoor collegiate list?
I know my school should be 2nd on the list at 7:17.7. And I was personally on a team that ran 7:20.7.
I'm trying tp reach back for some glory.
Strictly speaking Mr Wilson Kipketer is a Kenyan, therefore they are even faster!!
Actually, strictly speaking Kipketer never would have been as good as he was with crappy Kenyan coaches. So no, he is stricly from Denmark.
Illinois has had a great tradition of 4x800 teams...for decades.
Would be interested in all time women's indoor 4 x 800 as well. Those marks must be way off teh outdoor marks, because I recall Tenn women breaking the World Best in '84 could not be a WR because my ex was Australian not US.

Does anyone have access to a list of the top 10 fastest 4 X 800 relays ever run? If not, what are some of the fastest school records so we can generate a list. I know that Arizona State ran something ridiculous like 7:08 for the Collegiate Record.
For what it's worth, ASU's Mike Stahr outkicked Santa Monica TC's Jeff West (RIP) after Jeff had made up some decent ground on the anchor. Johnny Gray did not run on SMTC's 4x8, instead anchoring their Sprint Medley in 1:44.0 (26, 26, 26, 26) to a still-existing world record.
No disrespect intended to an awesome performance by ASU (I have friends who were on that 4x8), but SMTC's best team wins by four seconds that day.
When did Jeff West pass away?

Jeez, I don't remember. About two years ago, maybe? I wish I had stayed in contact with him; he was a good guy and a great teammate, my favorite elite SMTC guy.
I was on a team that ran against the Santa Monica team when it set the world record in 1986. Johnny Gray did anchor. I was the third leg and watching those guys run was incredible. My team (the aggies) were even at the start of the second leg and then proceeded to get crushed but still ran a great time, around 7:20 lows I believe.
Holy F****ing Sh**. Employee 1.1 just broke 15:00 for 5000 for the 1st time at age 36.
