At World Youth Championships in Cali, Colombia, she set her 2nd world youth record with her 22.43 200m - into a 0.7 headwind.

Matthew Maton is 19 and Grant Fisher is 18.

3:59.38 is terrific, but hands down, Hill's 10.98 is superior in every way.

Maton and Fisher are tied for #1001 on the all-time men's mile performers list.

Hill is tied as the #78 women's 100m performer all-time, anywhere, any age, all planets.

I would have put Lagat's records - 40 year old runs 3:54 mile

I would have added Alysia Montano becoming indoor and Outdoor champion and anchoring the 4x800 with a split of 1:58 (fastest in the world at the time) breaking the AR at World Relays after having a baby. I guess silver and gold at Pan Ams is not to shabby either.

In the first draft, in the honorable mention category, there was something about Montano and Symmonds being US champs, etc. I took that out as to me, a casual fan, would be far from shocked to hear that two total studs won USAs.

Lots of women have babies and come back and rock it. It's impressive but not mind-blowing shocking. I think there wins at USA were shocking as both her and Nick had been running poorly immediately before the meet.

fair, they both have great championship experience. They were really great performances from seasoned veterans.

Come on man don't put Tully on that list. Great work by here but please don't.

If you want to focus most of your stuff on North America which you are if you are putting Tully on the list please consider.....

Forget January 1. If you told us 20 laps into the 2015 NCAA 10,000 final that Seidel would take down defending champ Emma Bates and NCAA indoor 3,000 champ Dominique Scott, we'd have called you crazy. But after Bates dropped a 66 on lap 22, the whole race went crazy and Seidel wound up as the champ.

2. The USA men's 4x100 relay beats a Usain Bolt-led Jamaica team the World Relays, its first victory over Jamaica at a major senior championships since 2007.

Anita Włodarczyk throws a new women's hammer WR. 81.08m, first woman over 80m. Biggest single improvement since Olga Kuzenkova 1997!
