What the hell band was that on SNL? I thought they were a sketch for a while.

it was the scissor sisters, they do covers of others songs but with a danceriffic beat and usually a bit more flare. they did prince and pink floyd covers tonight.
They were terrible.
I actually thought they were terrific. At first I couldn't believe they would even try "Comfortably Numb," but ...more power to them. Actually, with the possible exception of U2, they were the best musical act SNL has had this year. Which admittedly isn't saying much.
Can't remember what song they did first, but the second one was David Bowie, was it not?
Anyway, they were horrible. The "man" may have some talent, and if he wasn't the gayer than Liberace with his two (that's right TWO super-gay dancing outfits) he would be ignorable.
The fat girl on stage with him was about as worthless as a third nut.
Two thumbs down.
I can however, see the appeal of these kinds of bands for the metro's and homo's and young girls.
The second song was Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb," as was indicated previously here.
Yeah, the singer is probably gay (by probably I mean definitely). But after talentless Hip Hop acts and people who lip synch, I thought Scissor Sisters were actually a refreshing change. And the guitarist and drummer were both very good.

I agree with that. The hip-hop acts are usually horrible (and by usually I mean always), and Ashlee Simpson was terrible.
I'm in my thirties though, so they don't book these bands to appeal to me I guess.
One funny thing is that I did think that the band was a skit for a moment and I thought the male singer was Will Forte. Mostly because his outfit was so over-the-top. However, they are on SNL and I am sitting here trying to figure out how long I will be sore from the 8-hour adventure race I did yesterday, so more power to them.
Worst ever?? Can you say Ashley Simpson?
They were different, and decent.
I tuned in during comfortably numb and it took me a minute to realize that it wasn't one of the skits. I agree the band seemed to know what it was doing but at the same time I thought they were the funniest part of the show.
I thought the best music act on SNL was Ashlee Simpson(or however you spell it). I didn't actually see it, but I got a pretty goood laugh reading about it.
The were pretty good.
There was actually a bit of a melody. Imagine that!

What did you expect? The whole show sucks.
Runners, I thought they were great! Fun to hear and fun to watch. Now I know what I'm going to wear to court next month.
They were great fun, and unlike anything I've seen or heard in a long time, which in the pop music world of same old same old stale old, is something. And I never thought I'd hear a version of "Comfortably Numb" that was so different from the original but was pretty terrific on its own terms.
Some of these guys ain't happy unless there's a few "bitches" and "ho's" thrown in. That's lyrical genious to the college crowd.
I agree that the band sucked, and personally I cant stand the bitches and ho music. Also, its pretty safe to say that there are probably 2 or 3 sketches on SNL that are still funny, the rest of the show is garbage now. Will Ferrell was the only thing that kept it funny for last few years.
Best performance of all time for an SNL band:
1985 The Replacements
Bob Stinson R.I.P.
