Men aren't impressed with that time either.
You shouldn't tell them that the course was downhill, duh!

For all practical purpose nobody knows what a reasonable time for the marathon is.
Those of us that do are a vanishingly small proportion of the population.

This. They have no idea what sort of talent and/or dedication that takes. Run a small marathon and podium. That's easier to understand.

Those of us who do know what a reasonable marathon time is, will be somewhat impressed but not overly impressed. Unless your a master's runner, or a woman, a 2:50-something marathon is good. Not very good. Not great. Not exceptional. Just good.
What's the equivilant for 5km or 10km
Perhaps they have worked out that sub 3 is not actually that impressive and you have stepped up to the marathon as a cover for this and a failed attempt impress other people
Usually it works so you must be fake. The only distance non runners and hobby joggers are impressed by is the marathon
Focus on what seems to impress the modern marathoner follower... tell the ladies how much money you raised for the charity... and if it was one of those rare running events that isn't for a cause nowadays, mention a fund-- real or imagined-- that benefits children or cute animals.

Any woman who has actually run a marathon will understand the value of a sub-3 hour marathon. Otherwise, your average non-runner probably couldn't tell you how far the marathon distance actually is.
They would be more impressed if you told them you scored three touchdowns in a high school football game.

This. It's just not a meaningful metric to most people. If someone tells me their LSAT score, I have no idea whether the score they're quoting is good or not. If I tell that person my MCAT score, they'll have no idea whether my score is any good.
Due to your obvious deficiencies in other arenas. A sub 3 marathon doesn't make living with your mom any more palatable.

Basically this. Women know jack squat about sports, but are still very interested in athletes. What they care about is status with men, and who is the best in their social circle. If you win races, women will notice, but they really won't know the difference between 2:20 or 2:50.
Because even Paul Ryan could achieve it.
Because they have a girl friend that has run faster?
Seriously, its nothing special.
Ask the ladies on LR to find out. What say you?
And it's only 12 minutes faster than that paragon of ethical virtue, Mike Rossi.Plus, doesn't Kip Litton do these like, every week?

The problem is your not out there long enough.
I've heard people ask, "How far was YOUR marathon?" As if they come in different lengths.
And I've heard people lay claim to running their first marathon when I know they ran a half.
You expect too much.
And Mike Rossi cheated.
It is a sign that you don't crossfit, and likely are < 6". Most women need more.
