I would have a hard time racing that dude cuz he is aggro.
As Wejo pointed out, he threw Centro's tactics a curveball by boxing him in off the final turn. That's pretty savvy on Blankenship's part to know that he has to get himself free in the final 120m, but also why not make the guys beside you work extra hard as well.
Still, he's no Manzano or Andrews after the rounds in a champs race, but he's damned entertaining to watch in a diamond league race.
Blankenship ran like an animal in London!

purposely boxing someone in is poor sportsmanship to me. if you want to place ahead of someone run faster

I find fault in everyone in every race. -
He also boxed Kiprop, twice, I think, once in the final straight. Didn't work there but I like to see him getting up there and going for the win aggressively.
-
just watched the race again a couple times. BB didn't block centro on purpose. he had made a big move to get around on the outside with about 220 to go, then he pretty much had to continue that move and go to the lead or he never would've had a chance. he happened to box in centro because he got on ayanleh's shoulder (the ideal spot to be) with 100-120 to go and centro was in a bad spot.
he never boxed kiprop, to whoever suggested that. -
there's nothing wrong with boxing someone in in racing. it's like pushing someone wide on the home straight. gives you an advantage. what are you talking about?
you don't win many races, huh?

Blankenship looks likes crap when he runs. He has no closing kick and thats why he is a one year wonder. All the real talent guys will kick him to the curb next year
-
He also looks like a gross animal

F off. The same could be said of Centro: He didn't run faster than Blankenship earlier in the race. Centro wanted a tactical race just as much as the rest of the field, and he got some tactics laid on him. -
A great run for him, blasting into contention on the backstretch -- he was tying up over the final 100, but held his form. through it.
-
The top 3 were all on the lead just after the bell. Ben competed well the last lap but he wasted a lot of energy getting up there. I'm always amazed in a slow race how someone besides the favorites is not right on the lead. Ten others guys could have been in that spot instead they were spotting distance to runners better than them on paper.

Sure. If Kenyans do it, it's brilliant tactics. Go away you PC wanker.

Blankenship has had s Long racing season he is not afraid to go for it. With a little more experience and fresh legs he will always be a contender

He put the meat on the table.
Got out-kicked in the end-- but he certainly ran to win... -

I am not sure what the future holds for him. One thing is certain, he was the most entertaining guy to watch recently. If he improves just a tiny bit to really play on a level field with the big boys... that's pay-per-view material right there.
cheers. -

The first 2 laps they
slept like a grizzly bear in hibernation. The last 300 meters, once the camel gets his nose in the tent, his body will soon follow. -

He didn't box anyone in. He ran his race and they failed to get themselves in a position to win. Centrowitz spent too much time on the rails waiting for his opportunity while everyone else was trying to win it.
He needs to do more than lap the track and try to kick home.
Kiprop could have run 6 seconds faster. He toyed with them -

Blankenship needs to stay in his drive a little longer. He makes himself shorter and tries to out leg speed people. He needs to straighten his back leg and let his stride develop. He needs to get a coach who understands.
He isn't going to muscle / leg speed his way to top class wins. -
3:26 = 3:43 mile, so more like 11 seconds.

As for BB, he always seems to use twice as much energy the last lap as everyone else, between his ragged form and surging, stumbling and dying. He's like the anti-Centro. Entertaining as hell, though.
