That was a long time ago. Tiger Woods was pretty good in 2008 too. The international game is much faster.

This is what happened before we started sending the pros (starting with the Dream Team). We would use college kids at the big international tournaments and would lose.

The U.S. has more medals than Canada at this year's Pan-Ams even though the U.S. is mostly only sending 'B' athletes to the games, while Canada is using most of their top athletes since they're hosting the competition.
Congrats to the USA's best with a solid bronze medal today.
Canada has a full NBA team with some decent players (starters or big contributors in their teams like Andrew Wiggins). They sent a "b" team for Toronto Pan Ams with only NBA bench Warmers like Anthony Bennett, Sim Bhullar and Andrew Nicholson.
Lebron is not going to be in Rio after Lance Armstrong and NOP doping scandals. Remember, the NBA doesn't test for HGH or SARMS.

By my count, that's 12 players. 5 of them (Brown, Hollins, Langford, Randolph, Wilkins) are fringe NBA players/non-NBA players with the other 7 being college players who are mostly predicted as 2nd round picks for the 2016 NBA Draft. I wouldn't even consider this a "B" squad for Team USA. This is more like a "D" squad. Anyone who expected this team to do well is delusional.
