Didn't this used to be an elite event won by Kenyans? Did they eliminate prize money, or just Kenyans?
Open race results. Separate elite field. Tyler Pennel was 2nd @ 28:47
Looks like Flanagan won on the women's side in 32:05. Had to go to an Italian website to get some actual results for the elites. The text below was translated using google.
Rain and wind are alerting the civil defense but does not stop the 46th edition of the AJC Peachtree Road Race, the 10 kilometers of road in Atlanta today Saturday, July 4, the day of the US national holiday, gathered 60 thousand runners. On the demanding route from Buckheada Piedmont Park, the European champion in marathon race with Daniele Meucci is the first for the initial two miles, but ran at a pace a bit 'sleepy (4:50 to 4:38): the change half It is so sudden, much more suited to the specialists of the track, and the Pisan army can not keep the frequency of the first. The victory goes to 28:43 Kenyan Daniel Salel in June winner of the 10km of BAA Boston Second to fourth place is a symphony in stars and stripes, thanks to Tyler Pennel (28:45), Christopher Landry (29:05) and Bobby Curtis (29:21). Meucci is fifth with a time of 29:41, again in the pouring rain after the Lake Biwa Marathon in March, with the satisfaction of get behind the Ethiopian Gebre Gebremariam, world champion of cross in 2009, winner of the Marathon New York in 2010 and today finished sixth in 29:42.
Blue (formerly silver and European bronze of 10,000) was also captain of Europe in the new Peachtree Cup, the team competition awarded on the basis of the sum of the individual times of the six athletes (three men and three women) that make up each team: triumphs in Africa 3:06 a.m.: 29, before the hosts Americans (3:07 a.m.: 35) and third in Europe 3:09 a.m.: 49. In the women's race the laurel goes to Shalane Flanagan, Olympic bronze medalist in the 10,000 in Beijing in 2008 and record woman in the Stars and Stripes, which beat the Ethiopian Buze Diriba 32:05 (32:13) and the Kenyan Caroline Kilel (32: 30). Fourth in 33:07 is the French Christelle Daunay, last August gold European marathon before azure Valeria Straneo.
So strange that Alexi Pappas wasn't representing Team USA. She ran faster than Shalane (32:03 v 32:05), and USA would have beaten Africa with her replacing Ward (shaves over 2 minutes off of team time): http://media.cmgdigital.com/shared/news/documents/2015/07/04/Team_Awards_Elite.pdf. I guess she wanted the $2,500 payday?
It was a $3,500 payday for members of Team USA; had they won each would have netted $7,000.
Well Janet Bawcom used to be a member of ATC, so I bet they wanted to give her a spot.... Pappas was an alternate I think.
Whats messed up - she would have beat Shalane, or perhaps they would have duked it out at the line... but that would be a scalp she could take and have on her resume.
The whole "Peachtree Cup" thing... stupid to separate 12 random athletes (Kenyan B-team wins) and then have a separate open course.
The goal is to make it more fan friendly.... but for any fan of racing, it's stupid.
Here's another warning kids... add it to the list. 1 second margin. If he doesn't fist-pump before the line, I bet he wins.

Ran it this morning and watching the DVR coverage - that's why you don't celebrate until you cross the line!
Where did you find Alexi Pappas' time? I can't find it anywhere

Do you people not read the front page?
They have been trying gdifferent things the last few years. Last yaer, they went to American only. This year, they are havign a team competition - Europe, Asia, USA, etc.
Here is the article on them moving to the Peachtree Cup team format:

Scott Overall didn't wint the race. He won the 'open' race. Pappas was in the open race as well.
The whole thing was broadcast live on USATF.tv this morning but isn't available on demand until the NBCSN show airs on Monday.
The fastest person was Daniel Salalel 28:43 to Tyler Pennel's 28:45.
Full results from the team competition are here:

No. It's too cluttered. You guys should make an effort to clean it up.

I'm pretty sure Pappas ran 33:29, which would not have put Team USA into the top spot.
Maybe that's gun time for the elite start?
Yep. Pappas and I were pushing each other going back and forth for the first five miles and I was gonna say, she must've had a Robby Andrews-esque kick! Eh, whatever, I'm gonna use this as motivation to start doing speedwork and get back into sub-31 shape. Next year!
They have two starts, and two "winners." It is supposed to be exciting for fans, but for Pappas types, I think the multiple-race format devalues the win. 12 hand selected athletes have a chance to win the race (not a lot of competition, I don't think anyone thought "team Asia" was going to have a strong chance.... but then any of the other folks who want to pull off a top 15 finish or anything else that could help with sponsorship, they get an "open place" -it's silly, and the TV coverage of the Peachtree Cup was dreadful. No coverage of the women until they cross the line - a few helicopter shots. It was just silly. And the scoring, no way that made sense to a casual fan. Do XC scoring and folks will figure it out.
Sounds a lot like this little race in Boulder that's been very unsuccessful.....
