This whole bunch of bullshit about Alberto's son being tested on with Androgel; the bullshit comment about don't let anyone touch my bags where my androgel is residing ...is a fantastic ready made excuse used ..just in case someone glows particularly bright... They've got a ready made Oops built in..thus probably avoiding long term suspension by using the "Oops excuse" of "X athlete got too close to my bag of androgel ". Let it be known that there's some really powerful stuff in his bags and by any little chance they do test + ..well then they just prop up the "Ooops". Rupp or ____, gets a slap on the wrist of 6 months and they then just move forward; It's a ready made safety valve just in case ...they gob on too much androgel... "Oops we're sorry.."

Testing Androgel Limits on His Son + His known attempts to get around other rules and drug limits = a very high probability that he is using his own androgel to micro dose Galen and Mo

The "sabotage test" claim sinks Salazar's entire, already foundering letter.

If you can really believe that a coach would want to know how much exogenous testosterone would trigger a doping positive because he's worried about sabotage and not because he's aiming to push the upper limits of microdosing, then you're not reading this. You're probably not a member of free society. You're insane.

Anyone diabolical enough to play the saboteur could get the job done much more easily and quickly, and with far less chance of being discovered, than by trying to hammer banned substances through Galen Rupp's pores.

I mean really. Chris Whetstine, considering the manner in which his reputation was smeared, is probably the last human being on earth who would try rubbing androgen-laced cream on anyone. Salazar was thinking, "People think the guy's known for this!" but wasn't thinking the whole scenario through.

Very interesting ESPN article from 2006 about the Justin Gatlin sabatoge excuse. Salazar is on record dismissing the whole thing as ludicrous. http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/trackandfield/news/story?id=2539489

But that hardly means Whetstine is responsible. As Nike marketer and famed distance runner Alberto Salazar points out, Graham would have intervened as soon as he noticed anything even slightly suspicious.
The incident allegedly occurred on April 22, but Salazar contends that Whetstine continued to work with Gatlin leading up to the U.S. Track and Field Championships in June.
"Trevor is a world-renowned, legendary coach," Salazar said. "Right then and there, if he sees somebody acting strange and putting something in his pocket, he's going to put a stop to it and figure out what the heck is going on. It wouldn't go any further than that. And Chris would never get close to Justin again."
Beyond that, there are questions about when Graham and Gatlin found out about the positive test. According to the approximate timelines and notices for a positive test on the USADA Web site, Gatlin and Graham likely heard of the first positive "A" sample anywhere from two to six weeks after the test was administered on April 22. So then why did Graham allow Whetstine to work on Gatlin prior to the U.S. Championships, as Salazar said Whetstine did?
"It's ridiculous," Salazar said. "He never would have gotten anywhere near Justin."
About the supposed grudge, Salazar confirmed that Whetstine had a business dispute with Nike last winter over some unspecified contract issues. Graham and Gatlin weren't happy about the situation, Salazar said, but it was resolved.
"And Chris went back to work on Justin," Salazar said. "It was all over. And any grudge wasn't even with Gatlin -- it was with Nike."

So what made Salazar change his mind and believe Gatlin's story after all?

I believe it was the (massage) guy who worked on Gatlin rubbing Rupp's shoulder or something. Probably explains why Salazar no longer trusted massage therapists to work on Rupp around big competitions.

This pretty much sums up my impression of Salazar's "rebuttal", after letting it settle in for a few days. I do believe this, or some variant, was his cover strategy, hatched some time ago. Deliberately, somewhat craftily conceived.

Oh I get it. So Whetstine just randomly came up to Rupp, placed his cream-covered hands under Rupp's jersey, and started rubbing away? And Rupp didn't object to this violation of his personal space - or did he fight back, and/or did Salazar question what he was doing? Please Alberto, give us some more details - surely you remember, as this incident stuck in your mind so much it instantly turned you from Whetstine's #1 defender to being deeply suspicious of him, and even inspired you to risk your sons' health to find out if he could have caused harm. Or maybe one of the many journalists present recalls this bizarre incident?
