Strangeness in seeding of men's 1500 heats at USAs?

Try taking the list of qualifiers from USATF and go...

I noticed the same. Even if this approach caused heat 2 to be tougher than it should, the outcome shouldn't change. If you are not good enough for qualifying at heat 2, you are definitely not a threat at the final round.

Maybe 1 runner that should be at said final won't be, and that is still debatable.

I did that first it didn't work. They moved soratos from the middle of the list to third to last and then did that.

Well I imagine it was just the computer that didnt realize 'Wait a minute three of these guys have used mike times.' So soratos went from an auto qualifier to third to last. Converting it would have been the logical thing to do.

Not conversely but I couldn't think of a better way to start this sentence, if you are not good enough for qualifying from heat 1 you should never have been invited to the trials in the first place.

No! For the women, the seeding pattern looks to be:

1 2 3

(98) (76) (54)

10 11 12

15 14 13

And so on.

It looks like they had to use a special rule to seed 4-9 to end up with Cain & Efraimson in different heats. If they used the ordinary seeding, they'd get this:.

3 Efraimson

2 Grunewald

1 Moser

1 Kampf

2 Uceny

3 Cain

I don't know about the method of seeding but each heat is loaded to an extent.

Heat 1:

Will Leer was the 3rd fastest American last year of those entered.

Kyle Merber is the fastest this year

Andrew Wheating has made all the recent teams

Heat 2:

Centro is Centro

Blankenship has been running great

That's it for heat 2, actually. Andrews doesn't have much 1500m credentials, especially recently. Noelle hasn't run fast.

Heat 3:

Manzano is Manzano

Ulrey made a team years ago

Torrence was good a couple years ago

Casey has done some nice things

Fleet is a good racer with a slow PR

And based on qualifying times the top three seeds are in different heats (Manzano, Centro, Leer) and seeds 4-6 are in different heats (Merber, Blankenship, Casey)

The heats seem fine.

Of course I didn't read what you wrote, I was too busy trying to figure out how it took you an hour to do what I did in 15 seconds.

The only glaring issue is Leer. He's been injured, and hasn't raced in a while. If he is still hobbled, then his heat will be easier.

Of course, even if he is healthy, he is Will Leer, so...

PS. It took an hour as i was on the phone half the time. But I had to conver t the times, seed it 4 times and the compare it to what was up.

Gatlin was told how the seatings work. Go ask him.
