Emily Sisson FTW- Is she the future of American marathoning?

It is so frustrating when people who are supposed to be knowledgeable can be so ignorant. ENKOY HER FOR WHAT SHE IS. A great track runner.

This board told us that Lisa Uhl was going to be the next great marathoner when she moved up. Before that Amy Yoder Begley was going to be great once she moved to the marathon. History tells us that this is poor logic.

Jordan HASAY will crush her in anything above 1500. She is doing well IN COLLEGE but she hasn't faced a runner yet the caliber of JH.

Emily Sisson is the same age as Jordan Hasay. She SHOULD be crushing it in college. If Hasay was still in college, I'm sure Emily would not be enjoying so much success.

Poor Emma Bates. After the 10,000 she maybe was just exhausted both mentally and exhausted. She should be able to tempo a 15:56.

Same for Jessica Tonn. Isn't she in her sixth year or something? Ridiculous.

Isn't she planning to stay with Ray Treacy? Marathon? When I think of females that have underachieved in the marathon compared with other distances both Amy Hastings and Kim Smith rank fairly high on the list.

Newsflash: 5k is more than eight times shorter than the marathon.

Tonn does seem like she has been in college forever. I couldn't believe it when I saw her name for Stanford this spring.

Sisson is an older collegiate runner too but for those who say Hasay will prevail in races with Sisson I am not convinced. I think Sisson is the better runner.

After her .US 12k finish I think it was safe to say she has amazing potential to do great things in the marathon. She also stated in her interview post NCAA 5k that she likes races over 5k, and that 5k is "too short" for her. She beat a lot of great runners this past fall/winter in that 12k. And the time was impressive also. She will challenge Hasay at USAs in the 10k and I think, SHE WILL BEAT HASAY!

Sisson has a bigger up side, also her physique is very strong, not emaciated like Hasay. I just hope Hasay has not been using because she used to have a very powerful physique and now it has changed dramatically. I believe that Sisson has a faster PR for 5000m and dead on with Hasay for 10000m.

terrific field! With that margin over Scott, it would be surprising if she did it on the kick. Am I correct to assume that she broke the field by going on her own with 2k to go or more?

Jess Tonn is a 5th year, so is Emily Sisson so they may both be 23. Jordan Hasay will be 24 this year. In what fu'cki'ng world is 23 old?

That's just what she did. "Tempoed a race" is what you say after getting beat badly.

You know who is actually old in the field and still somehow has years of eligibility left, Kate Avery. She's older than both Tonn and Sisson, and this was somehow only her Junior year. Also very poor research on your part, pretty easy to find out how long an athlete has been in the NCAA, it's called TFRRS.

Actually she ran pretty even the whole way. No body was able to stay with her in the last 1600.

I agree entirely with your statement. Hasay was once one of the healthier looking runners, particularly in her high school years. If she is restricting calories too much her body is going to start to rebel here soon.

I am amazed to realize that Sisson is only 21 days younger than Hasay. Good post.

That being said,

Sisson has better PBs: 1512/3138

versus

Hasay 1528/31:39.

Since Hasay is a former 1500 runner, I doubt she'll be a great marathoner. I'd take Sisson if I was a shoe company executive. Particulary given the Alberto allegations.
