Why is it so rare to see 800/1500 doubles at NCAA's. We see 100/200 and 5k/10k athletes doing it. What gives?
The 1/2 and 5/10 are so redundant that you could get rid of one of each and I wouldn't miss them. Something about different energy systems used make the 800 a unique event od sorts. It is also tougher to get through rounds of mid-d events. Unless you are head and shoulders above the field, racing smarts (and sometimes luck) are needed in these events where sprints and long distance tend to be more straight forward.
