Just got an update from Scott Bush at the Portland Track Festival that Galen Rupp has scratched from this weekend's meet. The rest of the Nike Oregon Project members entered are racing as "Levins (going for a world A standard), Rowbury, Hasay and Osako are all still racing"
Disappointing? Yes.
Surprising? No.
Alberto used too much "testoboost" last week & given him a tummy ache, so he can't race.

Farah dropped out of a race last week specifically because of Salazar and he wasn't even implicated. Why is it unreasonable to speculate that Rupp - who was implicated - did the same thing?
Pollen forecast is almost off the charts in Portland this weekend. It's even worse in New York.

Because Rupp entered this race AFTER the allegations against NOP had been made public, which wasn't the case with Mo in Birmingham.

Yes, THEY knew about the allegations, but the public didn't. They knew about the allegations before the Hoka and Pre meets, too, and it didn't affect their schedule. It only became an issue when the ProPublica/BBC story finally came out, which is what led to Mo not racing in Birmingham. But, again, this doesn't explain Rupp's scratch, because the allegations were already public knowledge when he entered the race.
It fits Rupp's personality type to avoid public pressure situations. He is not a public-face type like Salazar and Farah. Rupp is much more low-profile.
And it seems Rupp is getting stressed out about the NOP situation. In a way like having cold feet just before doing your first ever bung-jump. It seemed like a good idea, but as the moment draws closer the idea is not so hot after all.
