Just wondering how much improvement is generally seen in EPO users. Will it give you a slight edge, or will a mid-pack runner become world class? Links to good articles would be greatly appreciated!

Watch lance armstrong before and after he started winning tdf . . . it makes you ridiculous if your body is naturally low in hemocrit

This is the BBC documentary. In it, the journalist tests his VO2 max as a clean athlete and again after using EPO.
The results were a 7% increase in VO2 max
The part where he does the experiment is from 24:35 to 29:19
EPO works by raising hematocrit. Many athletes have raised theirs from the 40s to 60 or higher, which is dangerous, and both far higher and a far larger percentage of improvement than one is likely to see in any medical experiment. One may be able to extrapolate how much real, cheating athletes improve based on experimental data if one knows pre-EPO and post-EPO hematocrit numbers, but one will not be able to replicate actual results. 55 is, IIRC, regarded as about the safest level one can "walk around with" on a daily basis, although this probably increases risk of strokes, heart attacks, etc. There are reports of athletes supposedly having transfusions before and after big events to temporarily boost hematocrit to insane levels before reducing post-event for safety reasons.
the improvements are huge, but mix steroids and epo together and the improvements are bigger.i read somewhere it takes about 10-12 seconds off a 1500 meter time, half that in the 800,about a minute and a half off the 10'000 meter time, and about 8 minutes in the marathon.the cocktail will probably take 3 seconds off a 400,for a woman, and 2 for a man.

yes, the different PEDs would help different aspects: power and speed, and endurance.
