Lagat, a40, ran 13:14.97, and was not a factor for the win on the final lap. However, he was pleased with his 5000m opener and said he just needs a little more speed, noting last year he opened with a 13:31 at Pre.
Lagat also talked about his 10,000m on the roads a couple of weeks ago where he tied the all time american record. He said he definitely will do another 10k on the roads.

All I can say is that I wish he were a bit less optimistic and also more personable.

LOL
Great to watch. Good job, Wejo. -
Another amazing race for Lagat. And don't think that he won't improve his kick as the season goes on. He has proven that he can do that with sharpening time and time again. For instance, in 2007, he was blown away by Webb's kick several times (New York and Trials), then at World's he was double gold medalist.

Bernard Lagat is just amazing. I can only imagine what he will do the rest of this year. Even to make the team is super impressive; who would bet against him making the final in those tactical heats in hot weather? Just amazing.

What did he have to say about his positive A sample? Did you ask if his story has changed? Did you ask if he's still injecting EPO?
-
The faked A sample is well known. An overzealous white male sample handler "cooked the sample." Unfortunately, for white boys, the A sampler handler did not pay the B sample handler enough money to get the B sample similarly "cooked". Oops, jealous white fans lost their single opportunity to clear the track so their white heroes could set all the American records. Lagat still competes, still gets tested, and never has another "cooked" sample appeared.

This is why I love Lagat.

Kip is running 1500 in Birmingham this Sunday 7th (Mo is in the race which seems set up for 3:33/34 which is perfect) and then Bislett Mile in Oslo Thurs 11th. Two more 40+ records appear likely.
Then he's back to US to train for National 5000.
