Rupp to pace Pre 10K (gedanken experiment)

Between this and the NOP video game thread that just popped up, I refuse to leave my house today owning to a clear plague of stupidity.

This is not a bad idea really, but I'm sure he wants to actually race something. If they really want a good pacer, they have plenty of $$$$ to find one.

13:15 is 4:16/mi. Surely that's a bit faster than a "jog fest"

So he's more of an ale?

Leading in a race and leading as a pacer is comparing apples and oranges.

Good luck finding another pacer who has run 26:45 recently. Plus, there is the added motivation that he can help his friend, Farah.

When is the last time Rupp has lead a 10k race in the first 5-8k?

Rupp needs a qualifier, which is unlikely to happen at USAs since they tend to be slow races. 5k qualifiers need to be run in actual 5k races, splits in other races do not count. Plus, Rupp needs to be in an actual race as he has not raced yet this outdoor season.

Rupp can set almost any pace by himself. We've seen it in workouts and races. While he didn't win in his epic 10k with solinsky and Chelenga, it's hard to call his 27:10 pr at the time an epic disaster where he made the race.

I wouldn't agree that the Pre 5k is guaranteed to be a jog-fest. Every knowledgable fan knows that prior to this year the pre 5k was held in the afternoon, often producing high temperatures which likely led to tactical races. With the 5k moved to Friday night this year, I would think that many knowledgable fans should be excited that the 5k very well may be faster this year than it has been in the past.

Rupp will finish the same way he always does in a globally competitive 5k: falling out of contention at the bell and kicking in 56-57 to a mid-pack finish.

I'm pretty sure I'm not living under a rock, and I don't recall Rupp ever running 12:45...

Has the distance training taken the hops out of his legs? Needs to do some speed workouts.

There was a thread about AlSal telling his distance runners to take a secret sodium lager (drink) along with "supplements" to drastically improve their times--2 minutes plus for a marathon.
