Hello let's run, I need some ideas for posters to put up around the high school to get kids to come to our pre season meeting. Any ideas to get more kids out will be greatly appreciated.
Market the sport as a challenge. Use a tagline like "Can you handle it?" or something like that. Many people, especially athletes from other sports, will jump at the chance to prove themselves in competition and hard training. The people with that attitude are the ones you want on the team anyway. If you tried to portray the team as a just a fun activity or a way to get in shape, you would end up with 9:00 milers and people like that.
It's kinda like the USMC commericals that ask the viewer if they can make the cut. It's presenting a challenge that will appeal to the kind of person who accepts a challenge, and that's who you want in XC.
The most important place to put up posters is at the middle school. Get an announcement made at the middle school and have an after school meeting at the middle school.
