Michael Singer of Maryland just broke his previous PR of 9:57 to run a 9:08 and did it solo! Have you ever seen this happen before?

Pretty common for a big PR in an event you don't often run or do not have an opportunity to run at a fast pace often.
Sure. Mike Rossi dropped a 3:11 Marathon which is about an hour under his previous best.
That's only 49 seconds.
The headline is misleading.
He is a sub 4:20 ish miler right? No surprise, 9:57 would be a a jog.
He has a 9th grade teammate who ran 4:19 too.
He ran a 2 mile in indoor that was 9:19. Wasn't really out of the blue

So he had a previous 9:19 PR not a 9:57 PR?
We're now talking an 11 second PR over two miles?
are there pictures of him during the race, or only at the start and finish?
