How great is that Leo puts down USA for her runs for? Meanwhile the Nike shills put down Nike.
Leo loves running for this country. And Hoka One One apparently doesn't mind him being a patriot. -

Yeah, same with the unattached shills.
Shut up you moron. -

I definitely don't think the record will go down. for two reasons.
1) the wind
2) Does anyone remember how good Webb was when he ran that? It came in 2007 - his best year ever.
As Penn Relays can attest, it's often very windy in the midwest/East this time of year. The hourly weather forecast shows 48 degreers and a 16 mph wind. Unless that wind is coming directly from behind the stands, there is no chance.
Centro is obviously the big favorite but if it's really windy and slow, I don't think Manzano can be totally ruled out.
Webb's record came early in 2007. He was in 351 shape in April. By July he was in 143/346 shape, the American record holder in the mile and the winner in Paris. Unfortunately Worlds were at the end of August.
He ran 3:51 in a race where 2nd place was 4:03.
One Mile 28 April
1 Alan Webb USA 13 Jan 83 3:51.71
2 Blake Boldon USA 8 Oct 79 4:03.15 PB »
3 Hunter Spencer USA 21 Aug 80 4:05.45 SB «
4 Shane Stroup USA 6 Sep 84 4:06.98 PB »
5 Ryan Kleimenhagen USA 23 Mar 82 4:08.13
6 Eliud Njubi KEN 27 Jul 79 4:19.85
Moise Joseph DNR
Great memories!!! What a beast Webb was.
Take a look at the homepage the day after Webb ran 3:51:

Jeff See has been looking like he might have a great year. Hoping he surprises people this year. -
No one is going to flatten the field like Wote last year or Willis the year before. Even if the weather were to be perfect, this crowd of guys is a bunch of sit and kickers. Centro is great, especially in slow or moderately paced championship races. When he's in a race where guys are doing nothing but trying to run fast, he's in deep shit. He should win because this isn't one of those fields. It would be great to see Jeff See finally arrive and live up to that promise he showed as a HS soph.

Usually i would agree but Centro seems to be stepping up his game, atleast he did indoors. When he ran 3:50 while beating Willis he was the one that went right behind the pacer and kept pushing once the pacer dropped out. He seems to be getting better at the fast paced races. I mean we'll see he could go back to his old ways but i'd like to see him be able to mix it up on the DL circuit and at worlds not just at worlds -
Manzano with the big win!
-
Centro didn't look great today -- perhaps he was still feeling the road mile from Tuesday? I don't think there's any reason to worry about him. Manzano on the other hand looked very strong over the final 100.
-
Leo's stepping it up for nationals and hopefully World Championships this summer. A few weeks ago he ran the 800m at Texas Relays. With a strong wind (10+ mph) as he ran 1:46 with the first 400m at 51.5. Leo and Centro are definitely the favorites going into the US Nationals. This is all for show. Hopefully both stay healthy.........

Thought AJ looked pretty good today too. Awesome to see him up there competing for the win. Nice tactic to break away from the field a bit around 800 rather than waiting until 300 to go.

Agreed, he saw the pace wasn't that fast and took advantage. Solid outing for him. -

No.
At this level, No one is feeling anything from a mile run 4 days before.
He could have just had an off day or he was over-confident about his fitness and kick.
USATF could be a good race between Centro and Manzano.
And the Pre mile is coming up first.
I feel Centro is better but Manzano tracking him down and beating him last year in Monaco in a race where they bot set a new PR surely has to be in Centro's head and helps Manzano's confidence.
Manzano passing Centro in the home straight of the Olympics is in their heads for sure.
I think Centro wanted a come from behind win and didn't get it.
It's early season and this race doesn't matter but their are some seeds planted in their heads. -

Why do some people---NOP fans---always assume if their favorite loses it was because they had an off day? How about, Leo is as good, or better, a runner? -
I wasn't commenting on why he lost. I was responding to the comment that said he didn't look good.
I'm a huge Manzano fan.
But Centro shouldn't struggle to keep pace with him.
I root for Manzano every race.
I think Centro has a real shot at Lagat's AR, though.
