Pepiot's celebration has received a ton of attention this week but there are a ton of other instances where runners celebrated too early and it cost them in much more prominent races.
I think we should come up with an all-time list. Here we go:
Makhloufi's 800 last year was one I can immediately think of:

There's the time Ovett celebrated too early and lost to John Treacy. In fact, I think Treacy came back on him twice in the same race,

World Half in 2005? I believe that was the year Fabiano Joseph ducked under the upraised arm of the "winner".
This one is the all time greatest for salvaging the win by aggressive blocking.
Not surprisingly it's done by a tri d-bag.
2002 World Series. Giants manager Dusty Baker takes out the starting pitcher with one out in the 7th inning and a 5-0 lead over the Angels. He makes the mistake of handing the game ball to the pitcher which riles the Angels enough that they win game 6, and ultimately win game 7 for the championship.

Wow. Ouch. I didn't even know that happened considering they had to cancel the race later for us hobby joggers. Interesting to look back now. Thanks for sharing.
