Just bought my fourth pair of nike 2" tempo split shorts, by far the best running shorts on the market. Comfortable and hardly feel like they're even there during workouts. The updated style is longer, a little heavier and stiffer around the waist band. wtf. Who knows of a good replacement
The days of New Zealand splits are over. Running shorts are basically basketball shorts now.

Are split shorts even good if you want to impress the ladies?
Go to runningwarehouse and get the BOA 1" splits. I wouldn't wear them away from the track, though.

He once raced in distance runner shorts because of a bet with a guy from TCU, decided he liked them, and now races in short splits all the time. Will he get a chance to race Bolt next year in Rio while wearing the same shorts that Galen Rupp wears? We'll see.
The 2" tempo short is not really new. It is part of their team collection that they also sell individually. They replaced the other 2" tempo split with a short called the 2" racer short. It looks exactly the same and is in the same price range. might even be a couple bucks cheaper depending on the outlet from which you purchase your shorts.
