I know a guy who picked up $2000 for a 2:55 marathon.

2.5 miles 13:58 - $50
That is disgusting. It's not even a women's division time worthy of prize money.
$25 cash for a 37:mid 10K
$50 gift certificate to a sporting good store for an 18:09 which actually WON believe it or not
2:39 Marathon. Finished 5th and won $300. Used a port-o-pottie at mile 16, walked/jogged/crawled for the last eight miles, stopped to eat a whole banana, dreamed of Johnny Rockets for an hour.
If someone had passed me I would have been out of the prize money and probably would have dropped out, but no one ever came.
8:49 for an indoor 3k...got 3rd......won $100....first was 8:46 and got $300
$50 for a 27:20 5mile. Seriously.
4:27 mile....$300
18:40 5k, $500
Yes, I'm well aware of how sad that is.
I'd say a 15:05 for a 5K... sometimes I try to run slow, but I'm just so talented that I end of breaking 15 nearly everytime... sigh

33:07 (or somewhere around there) for $100. Didn't know there was money (obviously nobody did), and wasn't even "racing" but was doing a tempo workout. Was happy at the finish.
2:43 for 5th place and $100. Packed it in at 22. At 24 a woman asked if I wanted a ride to the finish. I said sure, but as we were walking to her car I looked behind and saw no one. I told her I was going to jog it in to get the $100. It was the ultimate in road whorism.
15:2x 5k for $50
or
2:29 marathon for $500
$200 savings bond for winning a 5k road race in 17:23. Same race and same prize was won several years earlier in 14:40-something.
33:32 for a 10k, won $50.
15:59 5k 100 bones
I should've gotten $100 for running 39:30, but because they didn't time it themselves, a fat kid snuck onto the course and took my second-place prize, leaving me $50. The winner got $250 for 35:30.
Actually, the fat kid never got the money, which is what ticks me off to this day.
$25 gift certificate at a local store, and a free pair of asics shoes and shorts, for an 18:30 5k.
$250 for a 78 minute half marathon.
$150 for a 2:55 marathon.
Numerous cash prizes/gift certificates for 36-38 minute 10ks.
Airline Tix for a 32:20 10k on road. All the guys in front of me peeled off for 5K, run in something like 14:50. I was completely unprepared for the mental effort of trying to win (was a tune-up for marathon two weeks later).
Would've got $250 for a 1:18 half while in college but the damn NCAA and their rules allowed some other bastards to get that money.
